ERIC BARKER
KEYBOARDS
Hailing from Fairbanks, Alaska, Eric Barker is a prodigious talent who emerged from an early age with a passion for composing music and mastering every instrument within reach. As the son of a jazz saxophonist, he was immersed in a diverse musical landscape filled with 70s fusion jazz, blues-rock, and avant-garde classical music. He taught himself to play the piano at just seven years old and the trumpet at nine, laying the foundation for his multifaceted musical career.

During his teenage years, Eric discovered progressive rock, a genre that has since become a defining aspect of his musical identity. He graduated from the prestigious Oberlin Music Conservatory with a degree in electro-acoustic composition and production. Following his education, he toured the United States with the progressive Celtic funk band Eel House before relocating to Hawaii, where he performed on the Waikiki circuit for seven years. It was during this time that he crossed paths with renowned producer Jimmy Caterine while recording with the gothic metal band Storm.

Eric's primary keyboard influences include iconic musicians such as Joe Zawinul, Derek Sherinian, Jon Lord, and Rick Wakeman. He also draws inspiration from legendary figures like Miles Davis, Devin Townsend, and Jaco Pastorius, constantly seeking fresh and innovative ideas to infuse into his work. In addition to his performance career, Eric is a professional sound engineer and editing director for the sleep sound company Relaxing White Noise, where by day he helps people unwind and by night he gets them moving to the beat.

Eric is a versatile musician, proficient in keyboards, Roli Seaboard, trumpet, bass, drums, and even the ukulele—though he humorously claims to play it very badly! With his eclectic background and commitment to pushing musical boundaries, Eric Barker is a force to be reckoned with in the contemporary music scene.
